University of Kansas researchers showed how easy is it to determine a stranger’s personality just by looking at their shoes. People were correct up to 90% of the time when judging shoes and guessing a person’s gender, age, political persuasion, and income.

This study was published in the Journal of Research in Personality. Over 60 students studied the photographs of 208 different pairs of shoes that belonged to volunteers. Expensive shoes belonged to high earners, while flashy and colorful footwear belonged to extroverts. Perhaps age and less so income. But do Republicans wear different styles of shoes than Democrats? YES, within this study, liberals tend to choose less expensive shoes—like sandals.

Researchers at the University of Bath discovered that men and women judge the opposite sex differently. It's not surprising to hear that men judge women purely on appearance. Dazzle him once and he's hooked.

Meanwhile, about half the women say they're attracted to a man because of his voice. Just not the quality, but also the words he chooses. He can make a best first impression by not talking like a fraternity dork.
