New Yorkers are re-discovering the public pay phone. An industry expert told the Wall Street Journal “In times of distress, the people of the city love them. Phones that normally do two dollars a day are taking in $50 a day.” As compared to a couple of decades ago, there are just one-third as many pay phones in New York City.

Since the advent of cellular phones, the public pay phone has been disappearing...a joke, even. That is until people need phone service and a huge fraction of the wireless towers are damaged. 24-year-old Alison Caporimo admitted that she had no clue how to operate a pay phone “I lost a lot of coins.”

According to a new study, students have a better chance of avoiding obesity if they eat more meals.

It sounds strange, but the study found eating more meals each day – along with playing school sports – were keys to keeping kids’ weight in check.  Not surprisingly, drinking soda, watching TV and playing video and computer games were found to increase the chances of obesity.

The researchers are urging parents to maintain a regular meal pattern with at least three meals a day to help kids achieve healthy weight.
