This year I decided to fill the house with all those old pictures from Christmases past!
It was a big project, but it was a lot of fun. I sorted through the boxes of old pictures looking for Christmas photos, then I'd hand them to my son. He used our scanner to put them on our computer. All the older stuff was on prints, and everything from the last few years was already on the computer.
Then I sent the whole folder (about 40 pictures) to be enlarged into 5 x 7. (39 cents each at Costco) They turned out pretty good, even enlargements from ancient, tiny Polaroid shots that nobody has looked at for decades!
Somehow we accumulated quite a few frames over the years, and I used all of those, plus we bought a few cheap new ones.
So please excuse my sloppy placement (I'll straighten them out when I'm completely done) but now we have all those great old pictures to look at for the next month! We've got long-gone grandparents, kids opening gifts, cousins, divorced couples back together, the time the tree fell over on me, and my wife during her 80's "Big Hair" phase.
I know one of our kids will count, so we had to have exactly the same number of pictures of each child. This was a challenge, because one of them had a three-year head start! And that's not the one who's going to count them!
Oh yes, we also have many new nail holes in the walls, but that's why they make white toothpaste, right?
We see this news clip on TV every year with presidents "pardoning" a lucky bird that would have otherwise ended up stuffed full of stuffing. In this picture, from last year, the president is a. pardoning, b. blessing or c. about to karate chop this turkey in half.
BUT: Apparently most of those birds don't last long after the official pardoning ceremony! Sure, they're sent to an animal sanctuary, but they usually don't live more than a year or two after that anyway. Farmers say these birds are bred for eatin', not for living to social security age. Their hearts and bodies just can't handlie all that extra, meaty turkey yummyness for more than a couple years.
So enjoy your time in the spotlight, pardoned turkey! And don't count your chickens quite yet.

I don't think I'm the only one cucoo-crazy about this Monty Python reunion! The group announced that they will do a one-time show at London's O2 arena, with classics like the "Dead Parrot" sketch, along with some new comedy, and some things they never did on stage, including songs from the movies!
Eric Idle says there will be a DVD release (A good gift for me, thank you!!!) and John Cleese says there MIGHT be more shows in the future!
They were a huge part of my youth. My friends and I knew all the words to many of their skits, and repeated them endlessly (instead of studying. Thanks Monty Python guys. I could have accomplished something with my life, but now I'm a deejay, AKA: rock bottom)
Also excited to see they've included the still lovely Carol Cleveland who was a big part of many of their best sketches and all the movies!
